Bicycle Commuting Tips
Cycling to work is an easy and healthy way to commute. A checklist helps make it easy. Below is everything you need to take with you and a few tips to help you enjoy your commute.
- Make sure your bike is tuned up
- Use a high quality bike lock
- Safety Gear: Helmet, gloves, glasses, bright clothing
- Cycling Apparel: Extra layers for warmth, rain gear
- Gadgets: Front and rear lights, and a bell
- Work essentials: Books, papers and work items
- Clothing for work – Remember the little things like socks, tie and underwear
- Toiletries – Clean up when you get there
- Wallet and keys
- Plan your route before ride – Try and avoid congested areas (If you must ride in traffic, understand the traffic flow and understand the rules of the road)
- Park your bike in a safe place
- Enjoy the ride and your health
- It will become routine
